PC Koubou Intros 7 New Notebook PCs

I have never heard of the brand PC Koubou, but it is a Japanese company. After going to www.pc-koubou.jp, I realize that the company name is actually Aroshisutemu. I wish I knew what that meant. Aroshisutemu was established in 1990 and has about 580 employees. Gross sales in 2005 were 41.5 billion yen (US$3.68 billion). That's a pretty large company. Now, let's get to the notebook PCs they announced:

QU207IW-DUO: This has a 12" wide 1280 x 800 pixel format LCD display and is a glare-type. Other specifications are: Windows XP Home, Intel Core Duo T2300 (1.66GHz) FSB 667MHz 2MB L2 cache, DDR 2GB Dual-channel, 60GB SATA, 8x DVD+/-R/RW and Intel 945GM GPU. 139,980 yen (US$1242).

CL516IN-DUO-GT: Has a 15" LCD with 1400 x 1050 pixel format. Other specs include: Core Duo T2300 CPU, 512MB RAM, 60GB HDD, Intel 945GM GPU, 8x DVD+/-R and Windows XP Home. 129,980 yen (US$1,153).

CL514VN-GT: Has a 15" with 1024 x 768 pixel format, Celeron M 360 (1.4GHz) CPU, 512MB RAM, 80GB HDD, VIA P8N800 GPU, 8x DVD+/-R. Price is 95,980 yen (US$852).

CL206GW-M: Has a 12" wide display with 1280 x 800 pixel format, a Celeron M 350 (1.3GHz) CPU, 512MB RAM, 60HG HDD, Intel 915GM GPU, 24x CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive for 99,980 yen (US$887). A very good price for an ultra-portable device, though the CPU is a bit weak.

AS517IN-GT: Display is a 15" with 1024 x 768 pixel format. In addition, it has a Pentium M 740 (1.73GHz) CPU, 512MB RAM, 80GB HDD, 8x DVD+/-R optical drive, and Intel's 915GM GPU for 129,980 yen (US$1,299).

CL401SN-M: A 14" with 1024 x 768 display with a Celeron M 350 CPU (1.3GHz), 256MB RAM (skimpy), 60GB HDD, 24x CD-RW/DVD-ROM optical drive for 81,980 yen (US$728). Nice price, but you can do better with Dell.
