On May 1, 2008, Hitachi announced that it will showcase its 1.5″ family of UltraThin LCD TVs to its annual dealer show. And with it marks the first time that US consumers will be able to purchase them. These LCD TVs are just 1.5″ thick and come in four sizes: 32″, 37″, 42″, 47″. According to Hitachi a lot of R&D went into the “patented ventilation technology” and the backlight, power supply and crystal frame. The 1.5″ UltraThin LCD TVs will be offered in Director’s Series (X) and UltraVision (V) models.
