Note: The overall design of the KDL-46XBR8 is identical to the KDL-55XBR8.
On June 5, 2008, Sony introduced its XBR7 and XBR8 series LCD TVs and updated its XBR6 series. The KDL-46XBR8 is a 46″ LCD TV, and the smaller sibling of the larger KDL-55XBR8. The KDL-46XBR8 feature set is very similar and sports a lot of high-tech goodies that includes a 1920 x 1080 pixel format, the new and improved BRAVIA Engine 2 PRO video processing engine, Advanced Contrast Enhancer PRO (ACE PRO) that makes use of the TRILUMINOS RGB LED backlight‘s local dimming capability to improve contrast ratio and much much more. The 120Hz Motionflow virtually eliminates motion blur. Similar to my feelings about the KDL-55XBR8, the vertically floating speakers on each end look cool. The picture quality will be top notch and there are some pictures posted over at Gizmodo that support this assumption:
