Vizio SV420XVT: 42

On June 25, 2008, VIZIO introduced a new line of LCD TVs called XVT. The SV420XVT is a 42″ LCD TV sporting a 1920 x 1080 pixel format that can take 1080p content. There is a larger 47″, the SV470XVT, with the same features. This is the first time that VIZIO is offering 120Hz capable LCD TVs. The SV420XVT sports 120Hz along with VIZIO’s Smooth Motion Technology, a motion interpolation technology, that creates a new frame and inserts it in between two other frames smoothing out any jaggedness in the images and greatly reducing motion blur. High-end has not been where VIZIO plays with its LCD TVs, but with the advent of its XVT line, you can get a 42″ SV420XVT 1080p LCD TV for just $1200. I expect street prices will be much lower than this and by the time the end of the year comes around, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a US$999 price!
