Update 2008.09.13 7:55PM PST I must have been falling asleep! Thanks Sam for letting me know that the TH-65PZ850U is a plasma TV, not a LCD TV.
Original: The VIERA TH-65PZ850U is Panasonic‘s 65″ plasma display panel (PDP) TV. It has the usual 1920 x 1080 pixel format, but boy does its contrast ratio rock. The static contrast ratio is as high as some other’s dynamic CR at 30,000:1. The dynamic contrast ratio is 1 million to 1. Now that should bring out some pretty nice images! Add to that its x.v.Color capability and you’re probably going to enjoy the images you see. Panasonic uses a new anti-reflective filter coating on the LCD PDP to reduce reflections and improve contrast. There are plenty of connectivity options including Panasonic’s VIERA Link and Cast. And finally, the price of $6999.95 isn’t too bad at all. It must be somewhat popular as Panasonic’s website is citing that it is out of stock until mid-October as of this writing.
