AOC F19: 19

AOC‘s F19 is a 19″ wide LCD monitor with a pixel format of 1366 x 768. Actually, the F19 isn’t quite a 19″ monitor, the VIS (Viewable Image Size) is 18.5″. The 1366 x 768 pixel format is more readily seen on LCD TVs and gives the F19 a 16:9 aspect ratio. 16:9 or 16:10 on a smallish LCD monitor… does anyone really care? Well, I do. I don’t want my pixels to be taken away. A typical 19″ wide LCD monitor will have 1440 x 900. I like 1440 x 900 more than 1366 x 768 especially when I have work to do. A DVI-D with HDCP connection won’t really appease the needs of those who want to watch HD anyway. You’ll need to add a HDMI connection. So 16:9 might be nice to watch HD content on, but why the lack of HDMI? Maybe someone can help me understand the targeted market here. Stick to the regular 19″ wide LCD monitor with a 1440 x 900 pixel format. For instance, you can get AOC’s 919SW-1 for just $130.99 at Amazon.com. You’ll get more bang for your buck. Of course there is the chance that you’re enamored with the F19’s design, which reminds me of Sony’s SDM-HS75, a 17″ 5:4 LCD monitor with a 1280 x 1024 pixel format.
