LG‘s 42LG30 is a 42″ LCD TV that is capable of taking 720p HD video. The 42LG30 has a pixel format of 1366 x 768 so to fill up the screen it needs to scale up 720p a bit. If you’re worried that you’re not getting the latest and greatest in a 1080p capable LCD TV, don’t worry. Not yet anyway. Most people can’t tell the difference between watching 720p and 1080p content. And 1080p content is hard to come by. You’ll need a Blu-ray player to get 1080p without scaling. You can also enjoy Blu-ray on a 720p LCD TV. Isn’t 1080p the future? Yes, but you’ll need to wait a long while. In the mean time, save your hard-earned money and start enjoying HD. The 42LG30 has excellent viewing angles of 178/178 and a very bright 500 cd/m2. The 6.2ms response time is a bit on the slow side so if you’re always watching sports (and getting into trouble for being so lazy) you might want to look elsewhere, something that has 120Hz. Make sure to use coupon code AFLLGE698 (expires 2008.12.23) to knock off an additional $101.
