Nintendo DS: Ebook Reader

Nintendo and HarperCollins are selling a £20 game cartride called 100 Classic Book Collection for the Nintendo DS. The 100 Classic Book Collection includes, like the name suggests, 100 classics from Jane Austen to Shakespeare. Flip a page by swiping your finger using the DS’ touch capability. You can, of course, use the stylus. The cartridge will be available in Britain on December 26, 2008. It is an interesting idea since the DS has two displays and may make the transition from physical book to electronic book just a bit easier to adopt. You won’t get the high-resolution paper display found in other ebook readers like Amazon’s Kindle or Sony’s PRS-700 but that might actually be a plus. The pleasure of being able to quickly read an entire page might just be enough to overlook the low resolution.

Deal: The Nintendo DS Lite is going for just $129.99 with free shipping at Amazon.com.
