United Keys is up to something. Unlike another company that incorporated (very expensive) color OLED keys, United Keys is using a more affordable version: monochrome OLED technology. Who said you need color on the keys of a keyboard? I think these look retro-terrific! You can modify the display with your own icons but unless they are done just right will end up looking not-so-great.
Engadget commented that the OLED displays are bright and can be viewed at any angle. There are 9 of them on the Display Keypad. If you’re a Mac user and want to use this you’re out of luck. Until the second half of 2009. Hopefully by then the OLED keypad will be more polished an cheaper. Ronald Brown, CEO of United Keys, says that the company is looking into a color version but like I mentioned price is the gating factor. The price of the Display Keypad is $199.99. A bit on the very expensive side in my opinion.
