HP has improved its Mini 2133 in the Mini 2140. From the picture everything looks about the same externally except that the display is a bit wider and shorter. HP has opted to go 16:9 for the LCD on the 2140. Both options (1366 x 768 and 1024 x 567) sport a 16:9 aspect ratio that is great for scaled up 720p HD content: you don’t get any black bars. (Don’t expect ripped DVD playback without black bars though). Internally HP has beefed up the horsepower: Instead of VIA’s C7-M, HP opted for Intel’s Atom running at 1.6GHz. The 10.2″ LCD will come in two flavors: 1366 x 768 or 1024 x 567. The 1366 x 768 pixel format on a 10.2″ wide LCD will make the fonts terribly small but you will have a lot more real estate to play with than the 1024 x 567 version. But for those who want larger fonts and icons out of the box, the 1024 x 567 will work quite well for surfing the net, checking emails, blogging, etc. I am glad to hear that an ExpressCard/54 slot exists: you can slot in your choice of 3G cards. The older Mini 2133 with a 8.9″ LCD can be had for just $358.96 at Amazon.com.
