Sharp unveiled its AQUOS E series of LCD TVs at CES 2009. There are two lines: E77U and E67U. I will focus on the largest E77U model the LC-65E77U. The LC-65E77U sports the company’s ASV (Advanced Super View) Superlucent TFT LCD, which feature an ultra-smooth finish that reduces hazes and reflectivity. The 64.52″ ASV LCD panel sports a 1920 x 1080 pixel format and boasts a doubled-up frequency of 120Hz called Fine Motion Enhanced, which should dramatically reduce motion blur. With the 1080/24p display capability through one of the four HDMI 1.3 connections the LC-65E77U saves you from having to deal with juddering effects that result from the 3:2 pulldown procedure. The ASV LCD is also 10-bit meaning you’ll be experiencing billions of colors. Contrast ratio is boosted with the company’s Spectral Contrast Engine XD (eXtreme Dark). The price is a hefty but not out of this world $4499.99 and will be available in about 6 months.
