AMOLED combined with touch: my fingers tingle just thinking about it. The S9 has been around a bit but I’m just getting around to posting about it. Actually I wrote about it back in September of 2008 but I am revisiting this cool little PMP with a nice AMOLED. The S9 sports a capacitive touch-enabled 3.3″ AMOLED display featuring a 480 x 272 pixel format. The design is very simple and elegant–even more so than an iPhone. The DMB feature won’t be too useful in the US but the S9 supports a variety of video and audio playback formats. You can listen to FM radio and record it too. One of the coolest feature of the S9 is the built-in Adobe Flash Player that lets you play Flash games and web-based Flash content. I wonder if you can play Hulu video content on this? Pictures of GUI after the jump.
The folks at Cowon spent some time sprucing up the GUI and I think they did a pretty good job. Not as slick as the iPhone’s but cool nonetheless. Amazon has the 16GB version for $223.95 and is ranked #449 in the ‘Electronics’ department as of this writing. One of the comments made caught my attention: “The 64 million-color AMOLED screen is so amazing it will make you wonder how you survived without it.” There are 12 customer reviews with 11 of them giving 4 stars or more.
