Panasonic‘s TH-L17F1 is a 17″ portable LCD TV but with two very important features that differentiate it from many others. First, the TH-L17F1 sports a 17″ IPS LCD that uses a LED backlight. Most 17″ LCD TVs use crappy TN LCD panels with CCFL backlights. With an IPS LCD panel coupled with a LED backlight the TH-L17F1 should be pretty thin and have great colors and viewing angles. The second feature that is unique is called “antenna diversity” and captures the same TV channel using the four built-in antennas and then combining them to create the clearest picture possible. Akihabara News incorrectly states that the TH-L17F1 uses a IPV panel and features a OLED backlight: IPV –> IPS, OLED –> LED. Another picture after the jump.
Another view of the TH-L17F1 shows off the funky-looking antennas with the lights on. These four antennas can pick up all 12 segments of Japan’s digital TV broadcast signals.
