According to DisplaySearch all major LCD TV brands failed to reach their sales targets in 2008. Except for Samsung. Samsung sold 20.98 million LCD TVs capturing 19.9% of the world’s market share for LCD TVs in terms of units. Sony was #2 with a market share of 14% shipping 14.75 million LCD TVs–failing to reach its original goal of 17 million as well as the company’s downward adjusted 16 million. LG was #3 with 10.74 million unit shipments. Sharp was #4 with 9.58 million and Philips was #5 with 8.11 million LCD TV shipments. Kudos to Samsung!
