Nokia unveiled its E71x smartphone at the CTIA Wireless 2009 tradeshow that is being held in Las Vegas. The E71x is an evolved E71. The E71x will cost just $99 with a 2-year contract with AT&T–much more affordable than the unlocked E71 you can purchase for a bit more than $300. But you do get your unlocked freedom for the extra $200–necessary if you travel and don’t want to make AT&T rich.
What’s to like? The keyboard seems to be getting a lot of positive feedback. The 3.2MP camera takes decent pictures and it has auto focus and a flash. You can have a video call, which is nifty and will probably require a good data connection. The 2.4″ TFT LCD looks to be a fine display with a 320 x 240 pixel format. I would rather have more screen than buttons but there are quite a few who would rather have the buttons.
What’s not to like? It’s locked to AT&T.
