Toshiba‘s 55ZX8000 is the largest of the latest in the company’s line of LCD TVs. The 55ZX8000 is 55″ and sports a LED backlight capable of local dimming that generates a dynamic contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1. Impressive. In this case, the dynamic contrast ratio is a big deal since the extremely high number will most likely translate into some very good contrasty pictures due to the local dimming capability. In addition the frequency of the 55ZX8000 is 240Hz, which is quadruple the normal 60Hz. Motion blur is probably completely eliminated. Then you have the Super Resolution+ technology that upcomverts all video signals to progressive 1920 x 1080 video or 1080p. All of these awesome technologies add up to a gigantic price: about US$6000.
