Sharp’s Sakai-based G10 LCD Fab to Commence LCD Production in October

Sharp‘s next generation TFT LCD fabrication plant is the world’s largest and located in the Sakai, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. The G10 LCD fab will focus on efficiently manufacturing 60″-class LCD TVs. It can, of course, manufacture smaller LCD panels as well. The Sakai-based “Manufacturing Complex for the 21st Century” had a FY2009 time frame, from April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010, for its production commencement. Sharp announced that it will start production at its G10 LCD fab in October. Sharp expects LCD TV demand to not only not slow down but grow, thanks especially to exploding demand in emerging economies like China.
