The video is in Japanese.
Really Thin Sony‘s NW-A840 is the company’s thinnest Walkman at just 7.2mm thick (about 0.28-inch). That’s pretty thin considering the svelte-looking Zune HD has a thickness of 8.9mm–downright fat compared to the NW-A840. The iPod touch is a bit thinner than the Zune HD at 8.5mm, still quite a bit thicker than the thinnest aluminum-encased Walkman.
OLED LCD is still the volume king but when it comes to sexy, OLED is on top. The NW-A840 sports a biggish 2.8-inch OLED display, which should provide a super contrasty screen. With a black backgrounded UI an OLED-based portable like the NW-A840 should last quite a while. OLEDs only consume energy when it isn’t black. Sony claims a 29 hours of music playback and 9 hours for video. Because OLEDs don’t require a backlight, it can be very thin. I’m actually a bit unsure as to why the Zune HD is thicker than the iPod touch…
64GB This seems to be the new high end when it comes to capacities for portable media players. The NW-A840 will come in three versions: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. All three versions won’t have WiFi or touch. Terrible.
