Revenues Down: AU Optronics (AUO) announced consolidated revenues that decreased 3.4% M/M but up 45.3% Y/Y to NT$39.6 billion (about US$1.22 billion). The number one LCD manufacturer in Taiwan is pointing to a seasonal downturn for a decrease in notebook PC and monitor LCD panels. Large-area TFT LCD panel shipments were down 4.5% M/M to 8.96 million units. Small/medium LCD panel shipments increased 9.9% M/M to 25.93 million units.
Flat in Fourth: AUO expects large-area TFT LCD panel shipments to be flat in the fourth quarter sequentially. LCD TV panel shipments will increase more than 10% Q/Q in the fourth quarter according to the company but notebook PC and monitor panel shipments are expected to be down 5-9% Q/Q in the fourth quarter.
ASP Continue Drop Average selling price (ASP) of LCD TV panels are expected to drop up to 5% Q/Q in the fourth quarter. ASP declines for notebook PC and monitor panels will decline about 5% Q/Q in the same time frame. Overall utilization rates in the fourth quarter will be about 90%.
