Kingjim’s Pomera DM20 is a portable word processing device with a full QWERTY Japanese keyboard. Word processing is the only thing the DM20 does.
The DM20 sports a 5-inch display with a 640 x 480 resolution, an internal memory of 89MB, a USB connection and a microSD port. I have little doubt text will be very sharp.
The simpleton needs to be connected to a mobile phone to send email via the USB port.
Two AAA batteries power the DM20, which will be available in Japan in December for around JPY35,000 (about US$400).
For significantly less you can get a solution from Palm: a used Palm V and the Palm Portable Keyboard (pictured). With this combo not only do you spend considerably less you can do much more.
