Dell Vostro V13: 13.3-inch Notebook for US$450

Dell_Vostro_V13_13inch_Notebook_US$450_BWDell‘s Vostro V13 looks fabulous for a $450 13.3-inch notebook PC. The antiglare (yay!) LCD sports a white LED backlight with a 1366 x 768 resolution. The V13 is only 0.65 inches thick and weighs just 3.5 pounds.

CPU options include: 1.2GHz Celeron 743, 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo SU7300, or 1.4GHz Core 2 Solo SU3500. There is a single SODIMM slot and max RAM is limited to 4GB.

A low-end 5400RPM 160GB SATA is available in select regions. You can top it off with a 7200RPM 500GB SATA hard drive. Need encryption? That’s limited to select regions and the maximum storage capacity is capped at 250GB spinning at 7200RPM.

GPU is Intel’s integrated GMA X4500MHD. Ports include: Gigabit Ethernet, eSATA/USB, USB, ExpressCard/34, Headphone Out, Microphone In, 5-in-1 card reader and VGA. Wireless connectivity options include WiFi N and Bluetooth 2.1.

The V13 comes with a sealed 6-cell Lithium Ion battery. You can load the V13 with Windows 7 in all of its varieties, but only 32-bit versions, or Ubuntu.

The Vostro V13 looks to be a game changer: not only does it look terrific, it is quite capable with an unbeatable price of just $450. I expect the V13 will probably nuke a lot of netbook sales. Source: Electronista, Dell Singapore via Engadget
