JVC‘s Everio GZ-HD620 records in 1080p via its backside illuminated CMOS image sensor. The 1080p footage is recorded unto a 120GB hard drive or a microSDHC card. The GZ-HD620 only weighs 270g, which is very light. For example, Panasonic’s latest Micro Four Thirds camera, the GF1, weighs 285g and that’s just the body without a lens. Add the 20mm lens and the weight balloons to 448g. The GZ-HD620 is definitely a lightweight. At the maximum bit rate of 24Mbps the 120GB hard drive can record up to 11 hours. Need more time? Throttle down the bit rate to 5Mbps and you’re looking at 50 hours. The cost to own one is steep at Â¥100,000 (about US$1124). The GZ-HD620 will be available on December 9, 2009.
