The Publishing Industry is Changing

Charles Stross, in Amazon, Macmillan: an outsider’s guide to the fight, lays out in very clear terms what in the world is going on with Amazon and Macmillan. There is a new player in town (Apple’s iPad) and Steve Jobs is offering an agency model that will collapse the publishing industry’s supply chain resulting in more efficiency and simplicity. But more importantly the change will likely restore profitability to the publishing industry.
