Both are not ideal for HD viewing—1280×720 is—but the iPad mini is worse, because it can’t technically. Both fall short of being retina displays, but the 163-ppi resolution of the iPad mini is pitiful and comes in at less than the 165-ppi iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3GS.
